Our Nursery in Prestwood

Our baby room provides a bright, secure space where children can explore safely from birth up to 18 months. With padded surroundings, tunnels, soft play equipment including a car, and sensory activities, babies are supported in their physical and sensory development while following familiar routines from home.

The toddler room is designed to encourage creativity and independence through a variety of hands-on activities. From mark making and crafts to group circle times, children build communication skills and confidence while enjoying a mix of structured and child-led play. The children stay in this room for all of their meals and snacks. They all sit around the tables together while we promote good sitting and independent feeding using a spoon and fork.

In the pre-school room, children develop independence through choice-led activities and everyday routines. With opportunities for role play, creative exploration, and practical skills such as self-care, children build confidence while preparing for their next stage. The children have unlimited access to a water fountain, so they can drink from it or fill their own named cups. We also have sensor taps, so the children can wash their own hands.

The classroom provides a focused yet engaging environment where children prepare for school from the age of 3. With access to technology, phonics learning, and creative spaces, children develop key skills while building confidence through discussion, shared experiences, and structured activities. During our circle times, we also like to discuss what they have been doing at weekends or non-nursery days.

Our extensive garden offers a wide range of opportunities for outdoor learning and play. From riding tracks and balancing areas to planting spaces and role-play zones, children can explore, take on new challenges, and develop physical skills in a stimulating natural environment.

To the side of the garden, we also have a “vegetable/plant patch” that the children enjoy watering and watching grow. Once the vegetables have grown, the children will pick them and try them for their snacks.
